O: Weighed, removed 1 cast, no scrap from cage. Stained eyes - no uptake. Bruising still present on keel. No laxity noted in left wrist. Moved to main room after giving meds

S: Staring at handler. Crouched and clacking. Mild L wing droop when placed back.

O: Mild bruising still present over keel. L wrist still has some laxity with bird displaying mild droop. Gave Keto OD first. Rechecked temp. Gave fluids and oral meds. Gave second eyedrop. No leftovers. Noted 1 cast. Dropped 20g of chopped rat. Took out inactive heating pad from cage.

A: Difficult to assess vision as bird was not turning head in cage or in hand. L wrist has some resistance when palpating in hand, but has mild wing droop in cage. Keel bruising very light. Mentation overall appears to be improving as bird was struggling in hand. Ate food overnight.

P: Give Keto 1st and Oflox 2nd. Move to back room and recheck temp day after moving.

O: Weighed, temp 104.1 on low heating pad - turned off. Bruising still present on keel, and no laxity on left wrist felt. Visual OS but not reactive OD. Did IOP study, OD much lower than OS - continue Keto OD. Gave fluids in right inguinal area, gave meds orally and OD. Aged as MHY. No scraps reported.

O: Mild bruising over keel. Removed fabric wrap - no laxity noted on palpation today, no bruising/swelling seen. Lots of feather lice and one flat fly on bird. Small feather under skin on the L flank. Small amount of unabsorbed SQ fluids on abdomen. Heart sounds slightly quiet on auscultation. Checked eyes: both eyes open, synechia in the lateral aspect OD with mild cataract and uveitis, retina hard to see but looks like there may be pale areas. PLR present. OS looks WNL, bird acting visual. No blood in mouth. Took x-rays: no abnormalities seen. Drew blood from the R medial metatarsal vein.

S: Finders picked bird up from side of highway. Arrived standing and moving around in crate. Flared at handler symmetrically, appeared to be using legs equally. After exam, bird stood and moved around incubator.

O: Performed quick intake exam with fundic and stain due to low temperature. Applied fabric wrap, gave fluids, eye drops, oral meds. Placed in incubator.

Neurologic: A little subdued.
Head/mouth/beak: Fresh blood swabbed from back of mouth.
Ears: NSF.
Eyes: OD held shut. See ocular exam.
Wings: L wrist lax. No crepitus or shifting felt on palpation.
Legs: NSF.
Feet: NSF.
Body: NSF.
Feather condition: Tail worn.
Ectoparasites: Flat flies, lice, one oral fluke manually removed
Radiographic findings: DNE.
Initial treatment: 0.25cc tramadol, 0.21cc meloxicam, ofloxacin and ketolorac OD. 20cc warm LRS in R inguinal. Applied L fabric wrap. Placed in incubator on 90.

A: Injuries found on initial examination consistent with vehicular trauma. Major trauma to the right eye - bird will likely be blind in this eye and/or need surgical evisceration. Low body temperature at admit (31deg at time of admit) but appears stable overall and is in good mentation. Guarded prognosis pending diagnostic imaging and further development of internal trauma from impact.

P: 12/9 - vet check, fecal, blood, IOPs, intake rads, spray with Adams. rx meloxicam, tramadol, keto and oflox OD BID. rx fluids. Establish L wing wrap change schedule pending xrays.

Small amount of stain uptake at lateral aspect of cornea. Lids held shut. Globe feels slightly deflated upon manual palpation. Significant hemorrhage and debris throughout eye, unable to see structures.
Left eye:
NSF. Appears undamaged. Bird acts visual.
